Little Changes

I am making little changes in my life. I find it overwhelming to tackle a big list or big changes. Don't you? So, I am sticking with little changes. Here are a few of the little changes I have made in the past year:

Drink more water
I accomplished this by buying a Brita water pitcher. I keep chilled water on hand. This works for me. It has to be good for me-right? Also, at restaurants I try to drink water, because it is free & good for me!

Cut down on Diet Coke
I have eliminated that wonderful afternoon diet Coke. I just decided that it could be the tipping point of causing those painful kidney stones. On a very rare occasion I will have a d.c. & then it is a big treat for me!

Organize a shelf or drawer a day
Once I get in the mood I usually organize more than a drawer or shelf, but it is less daunting to tackle one small specific place. If I break it into a quick project, then I tackle it.

Exercise
I should exercise several times a week. I have found that if I try just to exercise twice a week, I do better than having to exercise 5 times/week. Also, my goal is 20-30 minutes each time. I find that once I start to exercise, I will actually do more than 30 minutes.

I haven't tackled any big projects. I haven't made any big changes. But I am making progress. I feel more in control. I feel less depressed. I think the little changes are working for me. I will keep adding little changes. What little changes have you made & how have the changes helped you?

Amphicar

Have you ever seen an amphicar? These are the coolest things in the whole world! You can go from driving on the street right into the water & out again! I was going though some of my 16,000 photos (yes they are all backed up) the other night & happened upon this little gem:

I was with my family on the lake & my Dad had his camera & quickly got this shot. (My camera wasn't on board, thanks Dad!) I think this is the perfect solution for couples who have a difficult time getting their boat in & out of the water. It would save a lot of arguments at the boat ramp!

Just thought I would share something interesting & fun!

You can read more about amphicars here. Enjoy the warm weather dreaming~Cathy

Carnival Weekend

Does your town or city have a favorite event that everyone looks forward to? Ours is the Ski Carnival. Our ski resort is filled with the smell of grilling brats & hot dogs & sauerkraut & adult beverages! There are contests for the kids & adults. Some involve skiing & boarding & some do not. If you were there this past weekend, you already know that it was a fantastic time! A few of my favorite shots, some taken by me & some by my favorite assistant (hubby)! Enjoy!

Miss A who raced & took second place in her division, posing as Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn:

Ski Girls

I am in awe & amazement of the Olympic ski girls, especially the incredible women from the United States. Wow! They have guts & they don't give up & it shows first on the hill & then on the podium! It has been so impressive to watch these women & how their hard work has paid off in the WIN department!

Lindsey Vonn-wins the GOLD in the women's downhill on men's skis & with an injured shin!

Julia Mancuso-had a great run & ends up with the silver in the women's downhill. There were several crashes on the course & she just rocketed through to a great finish! She won gold in Torino in 2006 in GS. (Mancuso on left below & Vonn on Right, USA Today)
Lindsey Vonn, right, and Julia Mancuso ran first and second in the women's downhill race on Wednesday.

Hannah Kearney-has an incredible run in the freestyle event (combo of moguls(bumps), racing, & aerials) and wins the gold. She finished 22nd in the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy.

Shannon Barhke-earns the bronze medal in the freestyle event-has a 12 year history on the U. S. women's ski team, won gold in Salt Lake (2002), yes that was 8 years ago!!!

NORTH VANCOUVER, BC - FEBRUARY 15: Bronze medal-winning moguls skier Shannon Bahrke of the United States poses in the NBC Today Show Studio at Grouse Mountain on February 15, 2010 in North Vancouver, Canada.

If you are thinking of a way to help your daughter with self-esteem then get her out on the slopes. The combination of fresh air & overcoming fears will help her to become a confident young lady! The US will need new ski girls for future Olympics as these incredible ladies retire from the sport! I love the Olympics. God bless the USA! Ski Like a Girl!!
